Our Program

Octapod is a resource base for creative projects in the Hunter region.

Our purpose is to inspire new ideas in arts and media practice and support a creative and diverse arts sector. Our program includes:

CULTURAL RESOURCES - where we provide resources and services to the local community:

  • Information, advice and referrals
  • meeting/workshop space for Octapod members
  • Media Space (offering low cost film making and editing equipment for Octapod members)
  • nationally significant Zine Library
  • Residency Program (offering 24/7 access to shared office space)  
  • grant auspicing service

KEY PROJECTS - where we provide leadership, governance, management and operational supervision for a limited number of key projects:


COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS - where we work in partnership with community organisations or artists to deliver arts based projects.

2012 projects are:

  • Art Counts - exhibition and workshop series for people with a disability, produced in partnership with the Disability Network Hunter.
  • Hunter Arts Access Network (HAAN) - a Hunter wide network supporting accessible arts.


PAST PROJECTS
 

  • SeedPod - Octapod's Community Cultural Development (CCD) Program - designed to support artists to work with communities on creative projects. The 2011 SeedPod recipients were: Tara Jones and Helen Hopcroft.
