The Critical Animals Creative Research Symposium is situated at the intersection of arts and research. Critical Animals is a space to share ideas, develop practice and form connections. The symposium brings together students, researchers, writers, artists, academics and thinkers who are critically engaged in creative and experimental art practices. It is an opportunity to present papers, research material and creative practices with an aim to generating discussion and collaboration.

The Crack Theatre Festival is an ever-expanding national contemporary performance festival, presenting a vast range of experimental and inter-disciplinary work across areas such as theatre, film, circus, physical performance, music, stand-up comedy, work that doesn’t even have a genre yet, ranging from the more traditional to the completely outlandish. Free to attend, it provides an avenue for artists to test new material in development, create new projects as part of residency programs, tour work as part of the theatre festival circuit, attend professional development, master classes, engage in a panel series that ranges from the more practical need-to-know discussions to a critical discourse series, meet artists from around the country and present work to a diverse audience.

National Young Writers’ Festival (NYWF) is the country’s largest gathering of young and innovative writers working in both new and traditional forms including zines, comics, blogging, screenwriting, poetry, spoken word, hip hop music, journalism, autobiography, comedy, songwriting and prose. The festival presents ‘writing’ in its broadest sense through panels, discussions, workshops, launches, performances, readings, installations, and more.
Ladyz in Noyz Australia
Ladyz in Noyz Australia is comprised of a group of female sound, noise and experimental artists from around Australia. Ladyz in Noyz (international) was founded by UK via Portland artist Marlo De Lara, a prominent figure in the diverse international scene of female experimental music and curator of the pioneering Ladyz in Noyz compilation series, an ongoing project from 2008 to the present. Ladyz in Noyz Australia events were initiated in 2011 by Melbourne via Adelaide musician and sound engineer Lara Soulio as a branch of Ladyz in Noyz.
