About TiNA

1-4 Oct 2015 (October Long Weekend)

This Is Not Art – known to friends as TiNA – is an annual festival of experimental and emerging arts that has happened in Newcastle, Australia since 1998. Each year, thousands of people gather over the October long weekend to share ideas, test work, and meet like-minded creatives and potential collaborators.

The festival is made up of over one hundred and fifty smaller events, from panel discussions to hands-on workshops, performances to parties. It provides a space for artists, performers, writers, thinkers, theatre-makers, dancers, and tech-heads to gather, play, share ideas and innovate.

A number of programming streams converge under the umbrella of the TiNA festival, benefitting from its national reputation and audiences. These streams are ever-evolving programs of events curated by a number of co-presenters. This year, we welcome back the National Young Writers Festival, which has been a part of TiNA since the beginning; Critical Animals, who celebrated their 10th birthday in 2014; and Crack Theatre Festival. These diverse and ever-changing presenting partners make TiNA unique in its multidisciplinary structure, operating across text, visual art, theatre, music, performance and critical thought.

TiNA is here for all to enjoy, so we just wanted to make sure you’re getting the best possible festival experience. Do you mind taking a couple minutes of your time to share your thoughts with us via our online survey? Thanks – we really appreciate it!
