PODspace is an exhibition and education program that supports career development for artists.

PODspace was established in 2007 as a traditional gallery by art professionals, Gillean Shaw and Johanna Trainor. Between 2007 and 2012 PODspace provided a much needed and valued exhibition space for local, national and international artists, as well as an ideal learning experience for budding artists and art administrators. During that time PODspace  presented over 16 exhibitions each year showing work in a variety of media.

In 2013 PODspace began operating outside of the traditional gallery format, experimenting with pop-up style exhibitions including the INSERT series of art events at Caffestry in Newcastle East and the PODspace at the Lighthouse exhibition at Nobbys Lighthouse.

In 2014 PODspace presented pop up exhibitions at Nobbys Lighthouse, Hunter Design School and the University of Newcastle Gallery.

In 2015 PODspace presented the ‘Identity’exhibition at Newcastle Art Space (NAS).
