New board members appointed
Octapod has recently appointed two new general members to the board. We would like to say a big welcome to Emma Cother and Richard de Martin.
Emma is passionate about the role creativity plays in maintaining social and emotional well-being at the individual and collective level. She is an experienced manager of mental health projects at a local, state and national level; and has completed a Masters of Social Development, a Bachelor of Business as well as specialist study in the mental health of refugees and other vulnerable groups. Emma currently divides her time between work in Aboriginal health and the management of her artist in residence program, The Backyard Bus – an interesting experiment in living out her arts/health values!
Richard has a degree in Drama and History and currently plies his trade as a youth worker. He has organised cultural events and has a strong interest in the development and advocacy for sustainable communities, particularly the connection of culturally diverse and marginalised groups to creative arts practice and cross-cultural dialogue. His mantra is “Let’s Celebrate the UNITY in Community!”
Both Emma and Richard have already made valuable contributions to the organisation and we look forward to working with them in 2014 and beyond.
