This Is Not Art
Octapod has long supported The This IS Not Art festival one of Australia’s leading independent arts festivals. Since its inception This is Not Art festival has been dedicated to the exploration of experimental and emerging arts media and concepts, providing a platform for innovative and passionate culture makers to present their ideas. This is Not Art (TINA) is a supercharged convergence of writers, performers, thinkers, independent and industry musicians, creative researchers, electronic artists, dilettantes, and DIY culture makers in a showcase featuring over 400 local, national and international artists.
Held annually in Newcastle, Australia, the festival presents a diverse program of over 250 events, across five days. In 2011 TINA will be held from the 29th of September until the 3rd of October.
Street Art Walking (SAW)
Street Art Walking (SAW) is a art project with a task of painting public art spaces in the locale of Newcastle’s Hunter Street Mall.
SAW wants the city to come alive with artworks, dispersed throughout the streets, creating a public art walk for all to enjoy, locals and tourists. Our main goal is to bring back a sense of pride within our streets, while showcasing artistic talent.
This project has been developed and curated by Simone Sheridan.
SAW is produced The Octapod Association and supported by Renew Newcastle.

Disability Network Hunter
Octapod has been working with the Disability Network Hunter to present their inaugural art exhibition for artists with a disability.
The exhibition is designed to showcase the artistic endeavors of artists with a disability and will provide an opportunity for them to engage with each other and the community.
“It’s an opportunity to showcase abilities, not disabilities,” said Karen Stace, of the Network.
Currently we are heading towards a new and exciting time. Octapod would like to revitalise our direction as an organisation and strive harder to meet the needs of the surrounding artistic community. So, we want to know what those needs are and we would like you to tell us.
