NDIS and the Arts: Octapod on National Policy Working Group
Octapod recently participated in a National Policy Working Group meeting that discussed key issues and developments within the arts and disability sector. This Working Group is facilitated by Arts Access Australia and brings together state arts and disability organisations from across Australia.
Octapod’s Director, Christina Robberds, and Alice Nash from Back to Back Theatre, both of whom are based in NDIS launch sites (Newcastle and Geelong respectively), shared information and ideas about the projects they have been running and how the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is affecting their communities.
Hearing from people who have hands-on experience of the current NDIS roll-out is helping the group to formulate a national response to the arts within the NDIS framework.
More information about the new model that Octapod is piloting to support participation in the arts by people with disability is available on our website, including information about the Creative Access Network and Hunter Arts Worker Database.
