Curators wanted for PODspace 2015
Following on from the success in 2014 of pop up exhibitions being curated by Alison Smith and Nicole Chaffey (Transit Town at The Station Masters Cottage at Nobbys Lighthouse), Gillean Shaw and Michaela Swan (Other Places at the Hunter Design School) and Jen Denzin (PODzome at the University of Newcastle Gallery), we are looking for curators for two exhibitions in 2015.
Both exhibitions will be held at Four Point Gallery on Hunter St, Newcastle West (June and November 2015).
What’s the deal? The curator/s for each exhibition will be responsible for coming up with an exhibition theme and pulling together artists for a group show. We are open to a joint application from two curators or individual applications. All art mediums are welcome. Emerging and more established curators are encouraged to apply.
Octapod will provide administrative and marketing support, as well as insurance cover.
All direct costs (gallery hire, marketing, etc) will be passed onto the artists, who will be required to sign an agreement with Octapod about their participation in the exhibition.
Four Point Gallery will take their standard 30% commission on any art sales, with the artists taking the rest of the sale.
This is a great opportunity to curate an exhibition with support from an established arts organisation.
If you are interested in curating an exhibition in another venue, please contact us to discuss your idea as we are always looking for ways to expand our program.
To apply to be a volunteer curator with PODspace, please fill out the form below.
Expressions of interest (EOI) close on Friday 23 January at 5pm.
