Creative Producer Intern
Tantrum is seeking applications for a PAID Creative Producer Intern!
We’re incredibly excited to offer a paid internship in 2020 to a local artist with a proven track record as an independent practitioner and maker in the Hunter region. Specifically, the intern artist will be mentored in the role of Creative Producer in the context of our next youth-led community-engaged creative project. The successful candidate will be passionate about gaining experience in youth and community arts, as a means of broadening their own creative practice.
Due to the coronavirus / COVID-19 pandemic, this opportunity will initially be offered remotely, responding to health advice as appropriate.
What is a Creative Producer?
Tantrum uses the term “Creative Producer” to describe the role of the lead artist in conceptualising and organising a community-engaged creative project. Think of it as a mix between a director and an event planner!
What is a Community-Engaged Creative Project?
Tantrum develops projects that connect young people as creators with community members as collaborators to deliver innovative creative events. In 2019, Tantrum presented The Shake Up – a landmark live performance event for the community at Newcastle Museum, marking the 30th anniversary of the 1989 Newcastle earthquake. In 2020, the Creative Producer Intern will be involved in the planning, development and presentation of our next creative event!
