UP&UP is a youth and community engagement arts organisation that uses Graffiti Art & Hip Hop music to engage with young people, community organisations, schools & anyone else looking for a fun, unique and different experience.
UP&UP offer a range of programs, workshops and activities – we enjoy working with people to bring forth their creative inspirations. UP&UP also spend time on commissioned murals/artworks/signage/logos/canvases for business and homes across the Hunter region.
UP&UP co-creator Shane Kennedy was recently awarded the Youth Sector Worker of the Year for Newcastle 2015 from RYDON. Shane is an energetic and enthusiastic artist, youth worker, community engagement specialist, MC and Hip Hop activist. Shane has been an established Graffiti Artist and MC for over 20 years, a youth worker with over 15 years’ experience as well as having various community engagement roles.
UP&UP has worked on various public art projects, with clients that include Newcastle City Council, Port Stephens Council, Hunter Water, Lake Macquarie Art Gallery amongst others.
Combining his youth work with art and music projects is a passion for Shane, he has been designing and running street art programs and Hip Hop music workshops with young people for more than a decade, working to engage and inspire young people through art, music and community building. In this area Shane has facilitated programs in many high schools, neighbourhood and community centres across the Hunter region.
UP&UP thrive on establishing creative partnerships with people and organisations. We aim to work collaboratively with various stakeholders to bring the strengths of communities together through art and music. At UP&UP we believe that everybody has their own unique strengths and abilities and we are passionate about helping people to recognise them.
