Joanna is a Newcastle based artist who creates with the purpose of ‘adding to the beauty.’
“Creation and appreciation of beauty are not separate. In that moment of appreciation the beholder experiences those precise emotions which passed through the mind of the creator in the moment of creation. It is therefore when we are most like God. This is my motivation for creating art, and also my understanding of the purpose of art. I believe that the secret of producing effective art is producing something which resonates with and empowers all people, not just as viewers, but as creators.”
Joanna was a finalist in the prestigious Mosman Art Prize in 2008, and also exhibited at Parliament House in the same year. She held her first solo show at Newcastle Art Space in 2009 and has been showing work around the Newcastle and Port Macquarie in various group and solo shows. Her work can be found in private collections across Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the UK.
She graduated with a BA/BTch (Visual Arts, Studies of Religion) in 2006 and has been living in the Newcastle region for 10years.
