My creative practice blends experimental techniques with the traditional method of oil paint on canvas. I did studio-based training at Hornsby TAFE in the late 1980s, and went on to study art history, philosophy, and now have a PhD in anthropology. These interests and the fantasy worlds of my grandchildren inform the idiosyncratic imagery of my recent body of work, When I Grow up. I want to celebrate the joy of innocent imagination and the wisdom that comes with age. Using domestic images I have created a series of dreamscapes that play with the existential connection between childhood and maturity, time passing and time standing still.
