TINA VOLUNTEER/STUDENT PLACEMENT CALL OUT 2016

TiNA is a four day free multi arts festival that happens over the October long weekend. 29 September – 2 October 2016. Get involved as either a student placement or volunteer.

This Is Not Art thrives on the love, skills and talents of its dedicated volunteers – why don’t you join the team?

We want people who are idealistic, passionate, talented, creative and who believe in the festival like there is no tomorrow.

Volunteering offers the opportunity to get behind the scenes of Australia’s largest new media and arts festival and working with us provides barrels of hands on, up to your elbows, life altering experience.

It’s a great way to develop skills, gain experience in running an arts festival and have heaps of fun!

Marketing Intern x 2 – This role will work with the Octapod Director to coordinate and roll out the festival’s marketing strategy. They will gain hands-on high-level insight into the marketing of a national not-for-profit arts festival and the unique opportunities and constraints of such a role.

Time commitment: Would suit 80 hour student placement over 10 weeks (8 hours pw) or 5 hours pw over a longer period.

Social Media Intern x1 – The Social Media intern will work closely with the Octapod Director to develop and implement a social media strategy. For a festival like TiNA this channel of communication and promotion is critical. This role thus provides the opportunity for the person who fills it to gain valuable insight into the high-level development and implementation under the mentorship of our experienced Marketing Manager. This role will be responsible for much of the day-to-day communication of information through the festival via Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and the newly developed and launched TiNA application, which will be the primary method of communicating with our audience during the event.

Time commitment: Would suit 80 hour student placement over 10 weeks (8 hours pw) or 5 hours pw over a longer period.

Event Management Intern x1 – An event management intern will work closely with the Executive Producer to deliver the event. This position will work in the lead up and throughout the event, assisting with Volunteer Management, Production, Event Management, and Venue Management. They will gain insight into the complexities and challenges of organising a multi-day, multiple venue, interdisciplinary arts festival on a limited budget, an experience that will equip them well to move into the field of event and festival management.

Time commitment: Would suit 80 hour student placement over 10 weeks (8 hours pw) or 5 hours pw over a longer period.

Venue Volunteers (2 per venue throughout festival – apx. 30) – these volunteers invigilate the festival spaces, hand out programs, provide information to the public, ensure the venue is running on time and to plan, inform the Executive Producer of any issues that arise, and so on. Volunteers will work in pairs for four-hour shifts, rotating between different roles and venues throughout the festival. These casual volunteers will be brought on for the festival only, and will act as its public face, being a friendly and visible source of information at all major events and venues.

Time commitment: Ideally you will commit to two or three 4 hour shifts per day over the festival weekend.

Photographer x 3 or 4 – take photos of key events to document the festival as well as take photos of venues to assist us to compile a venues database.

Time commitment: Approximately 3 hours per day, at least 2 days in total.

Street info team – 10 (could alternate with Venue Monitors) – identifiable as sources of info, to be visible and roaming between venues.

Time commitment: Ideally you will commit to two or three 4 hour shifts per day over the festival weekend.

Volunteer Coordinator  – develop your admin skills through coordinating a roster of volunteers and provide support to them over the festival weekend.

Time commitment: Would suit 80 hour student placement including block over the festival weekend plus lead up preparation time.
