THE SEED HAS SPROUTED AT THE FIGTREE COMMUNITY GARDENS
Won’t you come and help it grow.
On Sunday 29th May Octapod’s Seedpod Program sprouted the first Figtree Community Garden Art Workshop bringing together art, gardening and delicious food. The event was created to initiate the community involvement of an upcoming Garden Mural project, led by artists Helen Hopcroft and Trevor Hornsnell. The day was an enormous success with the local community keen to join the creative celebrations.
The mural is to be painted on the side of the Croatian Club, Wickham, adjacent to the Figtree Community Gardens. Sunday’s workshop was the first step in discovering what the garden means to local community, these ideas will then be translated in a wonderful display of life and colour within the mural. If you missed out on the workshop, do not fear, because there is many more to come as the mural takes shape over the upcoming months.
Figtree Garden hosts a working bee on the last Sunday of the month and this event will now include the Seedpod mural art workshops. The Sunday gatherings will provide an opportunity to get involved in the local community and learn new and creative art skills. While you’re there you can also enjoy the Wickham sunshine, feast on wood fired pizza and admire the fresh garden delights. All of this Sunday fun will culminate with the creation of a vibrant community mural for all to enjoy.
The events are family friendly, so feel free to bring your kids, just make sure they’re wearing old clothes.
Octapod is mighty proud to make this community art project a wondrous reality. Everyone at Octapod hopes that you can make your way down to the Croatian Club, Wickham on the last Sunday of the upcoming months and be inspired.
