STUDENT PLACEMENTS

Octapod is currently taking applications for the following student placements that can start in Semester 2, 2012. Please note that these opportunities are also available for people who are not students, as volunteer positions.

THIS IS NOT ART  (TINA) FESTIVAL

- Social Media Officer – for the TINA festival.  Role involves social marketing of TINA (Facebook, website, blog updates), both in the lead up and during the festival.

- Street Art Programmer– This year’s festival has received a great deal of visual arts application and TINA is seeking someone to coordinate them into the festival.  The student would lead the coordination of this part of the festival.

- Urban Planning Researcher – investigate and examine how arts and culture play a role in revitalizing a city centre. Consider how changes to the make up of the city of Newcastle affects the existing culture. Produce a report on this subject for reference.

- TINA Participant Survey Coordinator – suitable for social science student, this position entails devising an survey using online tools for the TINA festival.  Role includes coordinating the distribution, collection and reporting of the survey to Octapod and TINA.

- Social Media Officer  - to assist Octapod Marketing Coordinator –implementing and rolling out Octapod's newly developed strategic marketing plan.

- General Arts Administration – Octapod would benefit from general administrative assistance.

- Assistant Exhibition Coordinator -  for Octapod’s 15th Birthday Anniversary – assisting Rebecca Stern in collecting and collating photos and stories to celebrate 15 years of Octapod.

CULTUREHUNTER.ORG

- Venue Liaison Officer – to develop the online Venues Database. This role involves liaising with venues in the Hunter, distributing registration forms and adding new venues to the online database.  This will help create a useful resource for event organisers. - Writer Team Leader – to develop editorial team in LGAs outside Newcastle.   Culturehunter.org has a team of writers that attend events and exhibitions for unique editorial content for the site.  Currently there is a strong team in Newcastle so culturehunter.org would like to see teams developed in other areas of the Hunter.  Seeking a student to coordinate a writing team. - Cultural Resources Developer – to add content to the Cultural Resources Directory.  The role involves identifying the types of resources needed to assist artists and either develop them uniquely or partner with other organisations to share them online.  (ref: http://culturehunter.org/directory/cultural-resources)

- Graphic Designer/ Website developer – to assist with the implementation of identified design changes and assist in improving the social networking features and usability of culturehunter.org.  Must have experience with graphic design and Drupal.
