PODSPACE GALLERY PRESENTS: GUNYAHNUT
Paintings of North Arm Cove, AIR 2012 by Michelle Brodie
Michelle states “At the Gunyah artist-in-residency, situated at North Arm Cove, Port Stephens I had an opportunity to interpret my experience of the cove and to explore further two subjects in my work: small, interesting rocks and the newly discovered, peanut. The days were spent at the water’s edge, a short stroll from the studio. I made drawings of boats filled with families, fishermen, holiday makers and hard-working boat owners and I watched the tide swallow up the rocks
until rain prompted some studio painting. A constant question for me is, ‘If I could invent myself what would I look like'? On this two week residency I delved deeper into constructing a self from imagination, memory and observation.”
Please join us for the opening Thursday 9 August 6 - 8pm. All welcome.
Exhibition Dates: Wednesday 8 – Saturday 25 August 2012
Gallery Hours: Wed - Sat 12 noon - 5pm.
