Octapod has been working with the Disability Network Hunter to present their inaugural art exhibition for artists with a disability.

‘Promise’ is designed to showcase the artistic endeavours of artists with a disability and will provide an opportunity for them to engage with each other and the community.

“It’s an opportunity to showcase abilities, not disabilities,” said Karen Stace, of the Network.

The network hopes to make this an annual event and include a series of workshops in the lead up to next year’s show.

“We have some big plans,” Stace said.

‘Promise’ opens on Wednesday November 17 at 10:30 at Art Systems, 40 Annie St, Wickham. It will run until Sunday November 21. The gallery is open 10-4 Wednesday to Friday, and 12-4 Saturday and Sunday.

It is curated by local artist Sally Bourke.
