It’s film, don’t you know
“Community Arts and Media” is our tagline. Arts everywhere but what about the media? Well Octapod has an exciting spread of film media activities happening in the new location! It’s all about joining in, around here, as you’ll see when you read about what we’ve got going on.
Now – Tara Jones is running a film-making course with 6 women, some of whom have never held a camera before. It’s held at Penola House in Hamilton and will make use of Octapod’s editing facilities later in the course. The women are all very keen and motivated and have been filming each other introducing themselves before moving onto learning how to tell their own story through film.
September – media space re-opens. Octapod’s community media space will be open again in September, offering low-cost media production facilities for Octapod members. The cost is $5/day and the editing software includes Adobe Premiere, Avid and Final Cut Express. See http://octapod.org/projects/community-media-space for more details.
October – monthly film nights. After its relaunch, Octapod will start hosting screening nights with short films featuring guest presenters and audience participation. Each month will have a different feel, depending on the presenter, but they will all revolve around screening a selection of short pieces and an opportunity for you to bring a piece of your own or the url of your favourite vlog treasure and share it with the crowd.
