Don’t Dis My Ability! Party in the Park
Join Octapod as we celebrate International Day for People with Disability at the Don’t Dis My Ability! Party in the Park on Tuesday 3 December at Maitland Park. Octapod will hold an information stall to promote our Creative Access Program. Come and find out how to connect with arts activities across the Hunter region.
The event will include live performances from groups such as Tantrum Theatre, Performability and Gleefull, interactive workshops and art demonstrations, information stalls plus more, including a free BBQ.
Don’t DIS my ABILITY celebrates the diversity and ability of people with disability, and it’s for everyone. Up to 100 events are held throughout November and December each year.
The 2013 United Nations theme for International Day of People with Disability is ‘Break barriers, open doors: for an inclusive society for all’.
Octapod is working with the community to develop new models to support artists with disability, and support arts and cultural programs involving people with disability with the view to providing better access to mainstream arts experiences. You can find out more about Octapod’s Creative Access Program here.
