This position has been readvertised and now offers a $1000 fee. This Is Not Art is looking for a committed (and savvy) person to fill a key organisational role for 2010. This is an amazing opportunity for you to get involved in a vibrant, independent national festival, work with amazing people, develop your skills while meeting like-minded folk who are passionate about the arts! So, if you're a keen local who wants to roll up their sleeves and get involved in the country's most exciting cross-practice arts festival we want you to join our team. Getting involved as the Volunteer Coordinator means you can contribute to finding a (big) team of handy volunteers to plan, promote, develop and manage the festival – a perfect opportunity to get hands-on experience, test yourself, or share your talents. Volunteers Coordinator– a key HR role where you get to find, organise and manage the festival volunteers who will run the bar, set up our venues, hang the banners and survey our audience. OPERATIONS MANAGER WANTED Brief The primary purpose of this position is to support the Festival Coordinator in planning and managing the delivery of the TINA festival- in particular to assist with general festival logistics and venue management.This is a part-time contract position ($4950+gst). On average you will work 14 hours per week leading up to the festival, increasing to 30 hrs per week commencing on the 27 2010 (festival week). The role also requires that you attend a de-brief meeting on Sunday 31th Start date: Week beg Mon 19 July End date: Sunday 31th of October 2010 The position is a Newcastle-based role, with an office provided by The Octapod Association. Expressions of interest are now being sought for key contractor positions to work alongside the This Is Not Art Festival Coordinator: Paid positions: (1) Bar Manager/Licencee (to manage the Festival Club and Crack House bars). To be advertised in July. (2) Volunteers Coordinator (recruit and supervise a team of volunteers to assist in the lead up to the festival as well as over the 5 days of the festival in early October 2010). There has been a change of guard with a few board members moving on, and some new members stepping up! We farewell outgoing President, Reichil Cheetham, who is now enjoying the sun in Malta as well as general members Damian Castaldi and Justine Lloyd. We thank them for their contribution to Octapod and will no doubt see them around town! We welcome new recruits - Dwuan La Trobe, a member of Kumera Soup Kitchen (one of Octapod's residents) as well as Bernadette Smith, who first got involved with Octapod through our weekly filmmakers group. We are still looking for a couple more board members - people with ideas, enthusiasm and experience in the arts, community and business sectors are most welcome to get involved. Octapod has received a small grant from the Community Relations Commission to run a series of digital storytelling workshops with young people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. We have linked up with the Multicultural Neighbourhood Centre in New Lambton as well as Waratah High School to offer ten Year 9 students the opportunity to learn how to produce a short digital story on the theme of 'friendship'. The project will run for consecutive weeks in June/July 2010 and will be featured on culturehunter.org in August. |
The next Zine Library work bee and volunteers' meeting will be at 3.30 - 5.30(ish) pm, Monday June 7th. We'll be doing some cataloguing and planning some future events.
