Applications are now open for positions under Octapod's Residency Program for 2010, with one FREE space available! The Octapod SeedPod Residency Program was established in 2008, offering a dedicated workspace to individuals and/or groups working in arts and community cultural development fields, who needed a work space. It is recognised that lack of access to resources is often a barrier to getting projects off the ground. A monthly fee of $130 offers residents: access to a shared workspace (desk + chair), 24/7 access to Octapod, internet access, meeting/workshop space, kitchen/toilet facilities, limited storage space, and cheap access to office equipment and audio/video production facilities. In 2010 Octapod is offering ONE free residency position. |
Octapod will be advertising for the position of CultureHunter Project Officer VERY SOON! Watch this space for details over the next couple of weeks. For more information: Contact Christina Robberds via email at podadmin@octapod.org or call the office on 4927 0470. In the meantime check out www.culturehunter.org! |
STOMP-ING IN NEW DIRECTION Newcastle’s Cultural STOMP Festival has a new director for 2010. Maureen O’Brien was appointed in November as Festival Director and has wasted no time in getting started. She has set the date for Cultural Stomp to be held on Saturday 1st May 2010 and has scheduled the first general meeting in December. The new director’s vision for Cultural Stomp is clear and simple. “We now have a rich, diverse culture in the Newcastle and Hunter region and I want to see residents of this region participating and celebrating our cultural diversity” she says “Novocastrians have a reputation for being warm and welcoming to newcomers. It is beneath the dignity and big heart of our community to see the instances of racial violence as we’ve seen lately. Cultural Stomp provides a perfect opportunity for everyone in the region to show their humanity, their tolerance and their support.” |
