Exhibition: This Is Not A ReTrospective

Now showing at Podspace Gallery: 'This Is Not A reTrospective - An installation by Emily Roberts and Michael Randall in association with the 10th anniversary of This Is Not Art.

Special opening: Friday 2 October 2009, 6-8pm

Exhibition dates: Wed 16th Sept - Sat 3 Oct.

Open Wed-Sat 12-5pm

After meeting during their studies at Newcastle Art School, Michael Randall and Emily Roberts have both exhibited extensively throughout Newcastle, and have collaborated together on installation works in the past.  Currently showing at PODspace Gallery, Emily and Michael’s new collaborative piece celebrates the 10th anniversary of the This Is Not Art festival.  Utilising a decade’s worth of paperwork, programs and post-it notes, their installation focuses on the dedication of the thousands of people involved in this highly celebrated cultural event.   Emily has taken a break from her studies to focus solely on exhibition practice and research through her international travels.

Michael is continuing his studies at Newcastle University majoring in Photo Media.

Zine exhibition at Newcastle library

Some of the zines from Octapod's collection are currently on display at Newcastle library. They will be there until some time in mid October, when we will be a doing a zine workshop as part of the library school holiday program. So if you're in town, come and check it out.

Also look out for the zine library during This Is Not Art: We'll be running a cataloguing workshop on Saturday 3rd October, 11am - 1pm, where you can release your inner geek and get involved in improving preservation of this important slice of our social history. We'll also be creating a mobile library that will go to the zine fair on 4th October, where you'll be able to sit and read zines.

For further info on any of this, contact us on zinelibrary [at] octapod.org
