Arts Access Australia have developed a suite of fact-sheets designed to help arts organisations that are developing or updating their Disability Action Plans. It was adapted by Access2Arts and Arts Access Australia using the Arts Council of England’s ‘Action for Access’ tool-kit and research into Australian legislation, contexts and resources.

In an effort to deliver more poetry to the world, the UK has launched a free online poem sharing service – Poem Pigeon.
The site urges people who have a poem to share to submit it to the site, noting that your submissions can be as public or private as the submitter wishes.
The inaugural Newcastle Writers Festival will be held from 5 – 7 April, 2013, at a number of inner-city venues.
More than 50 writers are attending and sessions will cover a range of topics and genres, including true crime, history, romance, poetry, sport and memoir. A number of free and ticketed events are available.
Irrelevant is to be held on Saturday April 13 from 2pm in Hunter St Mall and is going to be a huge celebration of all things young people and all things Newcastle.
Science fiction takes centre stage for Youth Week production!
Singleton Youth Venue will host two performances of the science fiction production RUR (Rossum’s Universal Robots) to celebrate this year’s National Youth Week in April.

Thin Air by Cecilia White is a series of installations and performance within the cells of The Lock-Up. Each cell, with its air and objects, interrogates the (un)known, the (un)space, the nothingness of (being) ‘thin air’... perhaps as the incarcerated once did not so long ago.

The Sunshine of her Smile -the Sunday Interlude Mothers Day concert on May 12 at Adamstown Uniting Centre has a packed program of musical delights for Mums and all the family. Guest artists include music theatre star, Chris Maxfield, organist, Callum Close, and outstanding young instrumentalists and singers. Morning tea is served at 10.30am with the concert at 11am.
Newcastle residents and holiday-makers will have a chance to cool off this April and May at a unique new attraction in Wheelers Place, Newcastle (cnr Hunter Street & Wheeler Place – next to The Civic Centre).
Ice Rink Newcastle is set to open on 6th April and remain in Wheeler Place across the school holiday period and through until 12th May.

Children of all ages, young and old, can participate in the Giant Games at the Honeysuckle precinct on Thursdays and Sundays throughout the month of April (except on Anzac Day) from 10am to 2pm. Giant Scrabble, Giant Chess, Giant Snakes and Ladders, Jumbo Bowling, and more, will occur in various locations around the Honeysuckle Precinct. Come and find us!
